It Begins...
After a few days of festivities in Shillong, we headed north getting drenched along the way. Rivers were forged. Rolling into Guwahati our luck ran out. The bearings are busted on our left wheel. Thankfully we had some help from another team. The shaw is now at a police station waiting for us and a mechanic tomorrow at 9:30. Hoping to be out of town by 12, but that is probably a bit too optimistic. Hotel is ok, but it might be one of the better ones we see for the next while. India is dodgy.
It begins
The trip has started less than smoothly. I managed to lose my debit card in Istanbul, am getting over a cold, and heard of the bombing in Delhi this morning. Ian, meanwhile is stuck is Chicago and will now be meeting me in Shillong a day late. Things are looking up though! Our journey is going to be facinating if nothing else...and that is plenty for me! DEL to GUW tomorrow morning (be sure to arrive to the airport 3 hrs prior) then a quick 2-12 hr taxi drive. I am hoping to meet some fellow rickshawers for that one.
