Insurance and Warm Beer
As we landed in England about two days ago, practically wetting ourselves in excitment, we headed off to Sheffield to collect what is to be our home for the next couple months. As we drove through the narrow streets of Sheffield our taxi driver weaving and dodgeing and taking roundabouts at 60MPH we were gratefull to finally arrive at our destination unscathed. As we skipped out of the taxi, we met the Englishman who sold us the van, paul (he is a very pleasant chap). Paul took us to try and get some insurance and road tax for our van. We arrived at the insurance place in short order and we were given a quote that stopped our hearts...5362 pound notes, Quid, sterling...what ever, in Canadian its around 10g's for a van that cost us around 1400$. So as of now we do'nt have a van...or a place to stay untill we figure somthing out. We pick up our Iranian visa's today, drop off our passports at the armenian embassy and then pop off to the nearest pub for another luke warm beer, which is how the english drink'em and to think, at one point they conquered most of the world...how could anybody do that on warm beer. Â
