Finally in Ulaanbaatar after a long, slow and loud drive across Mongolia on two cylinders with no exhaust!
Still running on three cylinders with an absolute max speed of about 50mph, could be a slow final push!
After a night stuck at the border, our first day in Mongolia has been both incredible and somewhat painful! We think our car is now running on three cylinders as it feels like it has about 12 horsepower, consequently it kept overheating so we had to prop the bonnet open with bottles, and our exhaust fell off so now it's unbearably loud... Mongolia you are both beautiful and unforgiving!
We've had a pretty awesome drive today through the mountains towards the Mongolian border! Although we may have slightly destroyed one of our wheel bearings so a kind local mechanic is taking a look tomorrow morning. Bring on Mongolia!
...also it's damn cold here!
A pretty crazy drive from Astana to Semey over the last few days! The dirt and gravel roads caused our clutch to snap yesterday, kindly fixed for free by a local, tonight we're hoping to cross over into Russia!
Heading East towards Russia! We've loved Kazakhstan but we're looking forward to a change after a good two and a half weeks here!
After an awesome few days driving up Lake Balkhash, we're in the fascinating capital city Astana!
Made it to Almaty after a rather beautiful drive along the Kyrgyzstan border!
This morning we checked out the Kazakhstan side of the Aral Sea, now after a long drive we're in Shymkent, looking to head towards Almati tomorrow to meet up with the teams we convoyed with through Turkey!
Four sweaty lads in a tiny VW Polo built before we were born!
