Start warming up the engines!Pimping and prepping the rickshaw is done after a day going shop to shop meeting friendly owners and finding small bits we were missing in case our luggage didn’t arrive. Good news is we found what we needed AND our baggage has been delivered after 5 days without it. We’re both most excited about having our detailed roadmaps back. Wish us luck as we embark tomorrow and attempt to head 198km to Dhorimana.

Meet Dolores. She’s a sweet old gal who we are hoping to be a savage when she needs to be like Dolores Abernathy from Westworld.
Dolores sees the beauty in her everyday life and routine. Her optimism and enthusiasm makes her the perfect partner for a variety of adventures.
Test driving day one went really well for Chris right away. He can throw it in reserve and race around backwards like Indian kids in 4th gear if he wanted. Katherine couldn’t figure out how to not stall every time slowing down and trying to get into neutral because to her, 1st and neutral are one. Even after stalling, her new favourite hobby is trying to start Dolores from first gear. This just results in a very tired arm from pulling up the lever a million times. After driving and having a mechanical debrief we had some beers in the lawn and met other whackos brave enough to do this. Everyone is so nice and excited for the adventure to start. Watching everyone laugh and smile as they drive around in circles and figure out their rickshaw is such a fun feeling. Hopefully this joy stays for everyone the whole way.

Huge itinerary change after sitting at LAX for 10 hours. Instead of Shanghai we were rerouted through Zurich and are now enjoying drinks in the lounge and replanning our first days in India. We’ll have to miss Agra and head right to Jaipur so we can still catch the trains we prebooked to Jaisalmer. We feel like all the delays and having to have patience is just the starting point of what’s to come with our rickshaw
