In West Bengal

Waddup there, we are in a lovely place called Suri or Suiri or one of about 5 other spellings (much like most towns/cities). Another rotten day on the road which was not enjoyed by any involved but its all good now because we treated ourselves to a pimp executive suite in a rather excellent hotel. Its always amusing when we decide to splash out on a nice place after a shit day. We turn up, completely down trodden, covered in dirt and bad moods, bag the best room in the joint and have a great evening of food and fun at minimal expense.

Driving aspect of the trip is going slow. Our rickshaw is utter bollocks, consistent breakdowns arent helped by our 'scenic' route choices. Todays was an arid, smog filled, industrial, pot-hole infested wasteland. I was struggling to find things to photograph and i can usually find a little beauty in the ugliest of places. Anyway, its all ups and downs and today just stunk (literally). On the plus side, i am feeling confident about the next couple of days, our spirits are still high and believe it or not we are actually getting close, fingers crossed our junkmobile holds together for 2 more days.

peace out!

In Ongole

Hello there!

Ok, we are in Ongole and have found an internet cafe for the first time. It's been an absolutely seamless and smooth ride so far and we have encountered absolutely no problems at all.

Obviously thats a complete lie, it's been an up an down rollercoaster to say the least. Will get the bad out of the way, there has been a lot of foul language, constantly terrible driving by the local population (I cannot stress this enough), useless machine that breaks a lot, moments of high stress, anger and frustration...and i got my camera nicked.

On the plus side we have seen some amazing places, the morning of the second day was an absolutely glorious drive along mountain roads, through tea plantations and scenes of outstanding natural beauty. The local people are generally very friendly and accomondating when they aren't on the road (seriously, they all have a death wish). Our spirits are generally high and the banter and good humour is rolling along nicely. We have finally reached a city which I don't absolutely hate and have had a solid day of driving. Feeling confident about covering a decent amount of distance each day if we dont have another day like yesterday (hell, hell, hell). Food is excellent and I am loving the vegetarian offerings out here. Some other stuff i cant think of but already have plenty a story. Doesn't feel like the end of day 4, feels like too much has happened already.

Anyway, peace out and will hopefully be back soon
