Not camping in Swamps
We are again in a cheap hotel along the highway. Did not desire to camp inbetween swamps and farm fields surrounded by swamps. I hate mosquitoes.

Trucker diner.
Staying the night at a roadside trucker hotel. It has a cafeteria attached for an easy dinner. However do not mistake beet and fish salad for a cheese cake.
Kafe's and Gastinistas
It has been raining for the last 6 days we have been in Russia. This means that all the forest / field access roads are for all intents bottomless morasses of mud and water. This means "no camping" for us so we have been finding cafe's and hotel/motel places or gastinista in Russian. $3-/$9 for food and $15-$40 for a nights stay with facilities. We stopped in one the other night and the lady made a big show of blowing dust of the passport registry for foreign guests. The next night they let us park the car in the auto shop garage down stairs for the night. We are in Angarsk tonight and plan on swapping out our springs and shocks for the spares tomorrow. A man traveling from Vladivostok told us the road from Ulan Ude to Irkutsk was very bad so this is the chance to prep the car as much as possible for this last stretch. So far the roads have been fairly decent from Novosibirsk. We will see what tomorrow brings.
Driving in Circles
So we have now been in Barnaul on three different times in the last few days. We made a decision to take a "short cut" today and had a nice 200+km scenic tour and met some nice interesting people when we finally asked for advice on which was the best way. For some reason most people think we are crazy.
Menu Roulette
In Biysk Russia at a cafe with wifi playing menu roulette. It actually turned out well and had a good meal.
Orenburg, potholes
In Orenburg for the night. We spent the day driving, dodging potholes and trying not to be killed by truckers and other drivers. However one or two potholes were directly hit. The car has a new noise from the rear-end. We hope it goes away with a nights rest. If it continues we will have to deal with it.
Kirkenes Norway and Russian Border
Kirkenes, Norway: We have stopped early for the night at a campground outside of Kirkenes. Tomorrow we head to the Russian border and then on to Murmansk. We may stop in Murmansk for a while to find maps and fill jerry can to head south and east for the next week or so. Pray for good roads.
Headed to Goodwood
Hung over slightly and leaving Coventry for Goodwood Motor Circuit. Really need to repack and re-organize the car.
At the Port of Galveston
The Falcon has been dropped off at the port and will be on the ship by 12 June. Now we have to get the rest of our stuff together....![file](//uploaded-files.theadventurists.com/images/blog/e3067f6357adb610737c48f04411e9fabda64908.jpeg)
Drive to Galveston
The first leg of the Adventure for us was driving the Falcon 1270 miles to the Port of Galveston Texas. It took us three days and 250 gallons of gas. The car is now on a ship to Southampton with us to follow in early July. Spent the night a friends house near Dallas. He let us park the Falcon in the toy garage with some Italian horses and another American classic. The one under the cover is a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang. ![file](//uploaded-files.theadventurists.com/images/blog/667c6b9d7dae0e44cbcdbf29580b5603b122258e.jpeg) ![file](//uploaded-files.theadventurists.com/images/blog/3dc47567e8ec75f2fc5f9718b1674235f75918fd.jpeg) ![file](//uploaded-files.theadventurists.com/images/blog/23e8762b614afda978020f819813fe9bbb57e891.jpeg)
