to Jaisalmer

So it's been a few days since our last update and alot has happened so I will be doing two updates, one pre-rickshawing (which will be fairly short) and one for the last 4 days since we started the run.  Rory and I made it to Jodhpur where we spent a few hours running around trying to track down Matt who had changed hotel since we had last spoke. Once we did find him though we enjoyed some great beer and food on top of a few hotels looking up the Jodhpur fort  and our over the famous blue city which was spectacular. The next day we pushed off for the final leg of the trip in a taxi to Jaisalmer. Over the last week we had watched the thick smog of the cities turn into greener crop fields and then finally into blue skies over the desert. we had finally arrived in Jaisalmer and it was one amazing city, almost as soon as we rocked up we started running into other Rickshaw teams and found out that there were seventy seven Rickshaws involved in the run. We then went off and found Jarrah and Phil who had got there the day before and later that day  Leike showed up with an old friend of mine from Aus, Eliza, who she had randomly ran into on the bus from Pushkar.. Small world. Well this is getting a bit long.. We spent the next few days pimping the Rickshaw and meeting a whole bunch of other teams.. ok leaving this entry at that.

the meet up

Well I arrived in Delhi late last night (the 22nd) and after 13 hours of travel I decided it was quite necessary to jump straight into a taxi for the 4.5 hour ride south to Agra to meet up with Rory who had been there for a week. Along the way I saw many a sight including a few crashes and my first monkey who was brought up to me as I sat in the taxi waiting for my driver to pay yet another boarder crossing fee. The guy with the monkey then threw it, the monkey, AT the taxi shouting for me to show him  my Cell Phone (I still don't know if he meant himself, or the monkey).... needless to say I locked the doors.. and then watched the monkey dance on the window for five minutes until the taxi driver returned and sent them off.

Anyway after a few more hours we made it to Agra where we spent another half an hour driving around the city looking for the accommodation where I was to meet Rory. Finding it eventually I knocked on the door several times before Rory finally opened it with a stunned expression on his face, apparently I was not expected until the afternoon. We are now sitting in an internet cafe disgussing the next move, probably the Taj Mahal for sunrise.

Signing out,

Owen and Rory.
