The Day Before
Well it’s the first day of the blog, the end of the day after the big leaving party and the day before we set off on our journey across India. Today began with a party recovery breakfast where the results of the evening’s shenanigans were visibly felt by all. It was then time to get to work on fitting out the Rickshaw. We had speaker boxes to install, a new hardcore horn to fit to each vehicle and new pimped out seats being made. With limited tools, limited knowledge of what’s locally available and the constant language barrier, holes needed drilling (with pen knives and screwdrivers), brackets made (at a local “workshop”), and fixings installed (cable ties and electrical tape). The reality of what we are embarking on set in when one team rolled their rickshaw in the car park on a test drive. The passenger suffered a pretty severe gash to his foot and was taken to the local hospital. He later joined us for dinner though and is still keen to continue. It’s now 10.15pm and the boys have been upholstering in the hotel room due to some mix ups with communication in getting our seats made. Tomorrow is the big day and it still feels like we have so much to do.
