Day 1: Delhi Airport
Father it has been 6 months since my last confession, I mean blog post.
I am Delhi airport, my flight to Jodphur was delayed by 3hours should leave here at 4.15 local time, then get collected in Jodphur for a 4 hour drive to Jailasmer, hopefully there before 9. New years party tonight so like the anti-Cinderella I have make it to the party before 12. Then we start the real journey tomorrow.
The flight over was brilliant. When we checked in at Heathrow we were upgraded to business class (not sure why, think it was overbooked) so we had a bed each and champagne on arrival and a 3 course meal. Best flight I have been on.
Our hotel last night was down a neon side street where the potholes were the size of craters but the room was clean and after 6 hours sleep (nothing like an electricity blackout to help you sleep)Â we are back in the airport.
I will try and get internet as soon as possible and provide further updates

Meet Mr. Smyth
John Smyth is my name, and I complete the duo of the Mad Mountain Men. Hailing from Roscommon in the west of Ireland, many people would consider growing up in that part of the country an adventure in itself, so you can say I was born to do the 'Rickshaw Run'!Â
I had a huge connection to a red and black tricycle from a very early age, driving my mother and father mental by driving it around the house at break-neck speeds, this is simply just a step up to a slightly quicker model, in rougher, less homely terrain.
Looking forward to the trip for two reasons:
- It's an adventure, not a holiday. I have been on numerous 'package holidays' where everything is set up for you and most things go according to plan (apart from that one time my sister got her appendix out in Tenerife!). But this is completely mad! Going out into the wild of India, in a tuk-tuk that a ride on lawn mower probably would rival in a race, and without any help, map, local guide, tips or hints we travel 2,500km from north to south. Something I hope will be a life-long experience.
- It gives us the perfect chance to raise money for not one but two charities - Frank Water Projects and The Irish Epilepsy Association, raising much needed funds for two very diverse causes.
So please support us in our trek, any funds will be more than appreciated. With just over 7 months to go I think it's time we get some money!
Thanks for now,
JohnÂ

All signed up
Just got signed up, I have been following the adventurist site for about a year but I finally got the timing, team mate and balls to do it.
I was on the sign up page hitting F5 Refresh for ten minutes coming up to 14.00, with google checkout and an actomic clock in seperate tabs. Staring at the "Not on sale" sign which at exactly 14.00 changed to "Sold out. I was just about to go postal when I hit F5 again and it said "Sign Up".
There is a long way to go before we go to India but I am already buzzing with ideas and anticipation.
I am going to try and keep this blog going with regular/weekly updates.
Only 346 days to go
 Big Love
