Bayanhongor, Mongolia
stayed in this town 2 nights ago. One of our convoys car is out as they have snapped the back axle. We have had to replace a front spring. Another car had to weld on their some rack and another has smashed the back windscreen. Mongol roads are car killers!

Ovorkhangai, Mongolia
probably the last nights camping last night. Made sure we finished all the vodka! We needed it as it was below freezing over night. A big push tomorrow and hopefully the finish line. Just need the the little car to hold up one more day!
Altay, China
a quick nights sleep in the city to recharge a little bit. Altay is about the size of Riverhead to give an indication of what cities are like here. Back on the road again. Every new day we cross our fingers a bit more that the car holds together on these punishing roads.
Khovd, Mongolia
spent the nights 25th and 26th in a ger camp just on outskirts of the town. The most lovely helpful owner. Ready for a big push for what people are saying are the worst 500k over next few days. I didn't think the roads could get worse!
Bayan Olgii, Mongolia
camped by lake last night about 20k before this town. Best camping spot yet. Rich had a chilly morning dip in the crystal clear lake. Driving is very slow going as there are only stoney or sandy tracks. Luckily only been stuck once so far. However the scenery is amazing and unspoilt.

so we reached the mongol border last night as it was closing. They let us in, took our passports, then with a friendly smile the lady told us the office was closed and to return to our cars and come back in the morning. So last night about six teams all camped inside the border. Few beers, some vodka and ultimate frisbee, led by rich, took the chill off the night. The big push across mongolia has started and the roads have disappeared! @
Barnaul, Russia
camped in a field about 200k south of Barnaul, on the way to mongol border. Very cold last night, we actually broke out the thermals!
