On the Kraken Cup January 2019

Yes, the anticipation is almost unbearable! I am so excited and at the same time terrified of what will await us during the coming weeks at the Kraken Cup! Right now, all I can do is wait until tomorrow morning to hop on the plane that will take me from Amsterdam, via Nairobi to Zanzibar! Bags are packed and double checked to ensure I have all the gear I've been advised to bring. I guess, I, just as my two other team mates Art and Stevie, we are as ready as one can be for such an epic adventure.

Next to updates on our team page, we will also be posting pics on our facebook page.
So follow us not only here, but also check out our page regularly.

Until then! Wish us fair winds and smooth sailing!

Hi Friends! The Amazon rainforest was formed about 55 million years ago and it's estimated the Amazon basin is home to approximately 390 billion trees. While the rainforest might seem a world away to most of us it is home to 1/5 of all freshwater on the earth, produces 20%of the atmosphere's oxygen, and has over 6 million different species wandering under its vast canopies. Without a mostly intact Amazon basin with it's regenerative qualities for oxygen, fresh waters, and medicine producing plants the world we live in would be a much different place. We, humans, humanity, are currently the biggest threat to the survival of the world's rainforests. We burn over 78 million acres per year and more than 50% of the is already gone. The land is then used for farming and cattle production. While this current use of the forest may solve a short term problem for the survival of the forest, it ignores the global implications of a diminishing resource. My teammates and I have teamed up with The Adventurists and Cool Earth to raise awareness and funds to help stop the mass destruction of this precious resource. Please consider a donation in any amount to help us reach our goal. Thanks for your help! Art, Julia
