Khovd, Mongolia
we're really on the rally now, yesterday we towed one guy back to olgi, then towed are we there yet all the way to khovd after they put a hole in their sump. Two river crossings, loads of camels, luke and i held an eagle, and another night camping in the desert. Plus we've decided to suit up for the whole of mongolia. So we're looking sharp.
Bayan Olgii, Mongolia
we're in mongolia! Only took 24 hours to cross the border, but we're here at last, and now it really begins! Dirt roads, mountainous landscape, and yaks! Remember you can still donate to our charities, follow the link above or go to firstclasstravellers.co.uk
Semey, Kazakhstan
it's luke's birthday and the saga continues. 100 miles from the russian border and our rear suspension has gone. It actually fell off on the road. 'Road' is a generous description. No matter, beers are flowing and we're ready for whatever the night should bring.
Shymkent, Kazakhstan
goodbye uzbekistan, hello kazakhstan, again. What a day yesterday was, overheating car, border closures, and i nearly got deported for a problem with my visa. Luckily the border guard was a gent about it, and we are on our way again. Highly stressful. Did i mention we're doing this for charity? Follow the link to donate!
Samarkand, Uzbekistan
more over heating problems coming into samarkand, but a very nice uzbek mechanic has dealt with it for us. And he did it for free. Uzbeks are so friendly! Now to hit the sights. Tally ho!
Nukus, Uzbekistan
another day another country. After the 6hr, kafka-esque border crossing, we are in uzbekistan. And now it's time to slow down, get out of the car and experience central asia. The only trouble now is there's so much to see! Agnes is still running great, and our bash plates certainly came in hand crossing the desert.
Atyrau, Kazakhstan
our first class adventure continues into kazakhstan. A beautiful country, with friendly people, and camels everywhere. Plus we got mates rates at the 5 star mariott last night. now we head for the desert!
Astrakhan, Russia
just checked into the radisson on the kazak border, first class by name, first class by nature. And they gave us half rates cause we're on the rally! Spiffing
Volgogradskaya oblast, Russia
first major problem with Agnes. On the way into volgograd we had some serious overheating problems. Thermostat was knackered. But mercy be we found a great mechanic who had a spare, and now she's all better. Bit of a delay but good to get it done now before the desert. Done, on to the next one, chin chin
Mariupol', Ukraine
today we head for the russian border. With team reckless abandon in tow we're leaving ukraine to where the vodka flows like the salmon of copastrano. Heading for astrakhan or as close to as possible. Toodlepip!@
