quick update- stayed in a yurt last night and attempted to have a shower in a river today but got shouted at by some locals.. car still running well so pushing on today. The SEAT had 2 punctures earlier and the MIT spacestar clutch is on the blink. V. Dusty roads means slow progress.j

camped by a river last night and had some yummy veg and sausage stew prepared by the girls from wshkb around camp fire.. onto Russia hopefully today and then Mongolia in a few days time. It feels like the real adventure is about to start as we ascend into the Altai mountains. J.@

just finished awesome local dinner at Farhi in Astana.. been relaxing for a few days before back on the road tomorrow. Astana has so much money its like a western city..Next stop Altai mountains on the Kazakh, Russia, Mongolia border. Must stock up on warm clothing before going! J.

about an hour out of Astana hoping for a decent hotel and a warm shower after a week of camping. Currently towing No Bull Just Yaks team to the city after drive shaft failure in their Seat Ibiza. Still in convoy with 2 other teams too so were all having a group adventure! J.

just about to run out of petrol.. even used the reserve jerry can. Road goes on for miles, no sign posts, nothing around. Still in convoy.. hoping another rallier can go on and fetch us some back. Out of 4 cars , 1 has just run out and 1 is on half tank J.@

another day of driving (are u seeing a routine here?!) Visited mamayevkurgan statue in Volgograd this morning and we are now contemplating what route to take thru Kazakhstan starting tomorrow-north on goodish roads or attempt south & to almaty, an extra 1500 miles..time will tell! J.

crossed into Russia late yesterday after failing to find somewhere to stay in Ukraine near the border. Roads were terrible all day and mood was pretty low. A quick pot noodle at a local tourist spot perked us up and we crossed into Russia relatively easy (I had to fill in 4 forms) J
