Mongol Rally

Hey there! :) We are the Travelling Nerds, and we have completely lost our minds: we are preparing to undertake the Mongol Rally 2023... in one (just one...?) Ford Escort MK1 from 1970! (sporting a glorious 940-cc engine, of course).
It will need lots of repairs, but we are doing all the major restorations for this 52-year-old beauty to survive the trip (hopefully).

We are documenting everything, from the repairs to the overall organization, and we plan to release it on Youtube episodically.

Virtual Dry Run route..  Looks like we will be skipping Iran considering the strong reviews from earlier riders.

So the Countries/Cities that looks like ideal from our view is as ..below

London, Belgium, Germany, Czhechia, Slovakia, Romania, Istanbul, Azerbaijan, >> cross Caspian by Boat >> Land in Turkmenistan, resume road ride to Uzbeg

Tajik, Kryg, Russia, Mongolia and Ulan Ude.. Closing..    (not sure if i mis-sequenced it..    hey but we are just getting our virtual geography lesson... started :)

Just signed up after two weeks off from the Monkey Run Scotland Pioneers…don’t have a team yet 😅 don’t have a clue what I’m doing but that’s all part of the fun right? 

As Winston Churchill famously said: “This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” 

This 2cv is an old girl that has nearly 50 years of driving under its belt - its getting some much needed loved so that she can head to Mongolia ... and come back ! If we don't write off the old girl with our antiques we are certainly driving her back home from Ulan Ude. 

Today. Is the day when Team Reissupojat join in the rally. We have some trouble whit engine...sauna take part of this conversation...Teemu is out of game...
